Top Valve Recommendations for RIBs

May 9, 2022
RIB

Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) are one of the most popular types of boat available. They are often used for both leisure and rescue applications. This is because they are lightweight and offer high-performance for their size. They also have the added benefit that they are nearly unsinkable.

RIBs get their name from the rigid hull bottom which is joined to high pressure air tubes on either side. They are easy to inflate so are quick to get on the water.

At Leafield Marine, RIB manufacturers are some of our most common customers. This is because they need high quality valves to ensure their boats stay safe and reliable. All our valves are 100% tested in production and meet strict safety criteria.

Our top valve recommendations for RIBs are:

D7 Inflation/ Deflation Valve

The D7 valve is one of our most popular products due to its quality and versatility. We make the valve from Acetal POM plastic to give it improved strength, UV, and chemical resistance. The small size makes it perfect for RIBs with chambers of any size. Many customers value the sleek design of the D7. It is additionally available in several colours to ensure a perfect design match to your product.

A6 Pressure Relief Valve (PRV)

A PRV is highly useful on any inflatable structure. We recommend our A6 for use on a RIB due to its compact and reliable features. A PRV automatically opens to release air if the pressure within the structure becomes too much, and closes when the specified pressure is restored. Pressure can rise due to exposure to solar heat, which is not uncommon in RIBs. This valve ensures the pressure does not become a risk to the user.

Switchable Transfer Valve (STV)

Leafield’s STV is highly useful in the design of a RIB. This is due to the valve allowing adjoining separate chambers to be connected to create a single point of inflation. This speeds up inflation times, providing a better customer experience. It can also prevent an issue in one chamber from impacting the overall structure of the RIB. This connection can be controlled through a control switch to open or close the valve.

Leafield Marine also manufacture hoses and hose adaptors to accompany our products. We can work with you to find the most suitable fit for your RIB.

Valves are a key part of a RIB. Therefore, it is vital that manufacturers use quality products to ensure passengers are safe when onboard.
