Common Paddle Board Issues And How They Can Be Resolved

December 7, 2022
common paddle-board issues

With Stand Up Paddleboarding on the increase there are a few common issues which are seen throughout the paddleboarding community.

Seams

Problems with the seams can occur, this is usually a fault in the seams manufacture. They can be fixed by either returning your paddleboard if it’s under warranty to be fixed of replaced. If it is no longer under warranty then there is an option to either try to fix it yourself or to visit a professional boat company who maybe able to fix the issue for you.

Tears and Leaks

Tears and Leaks are always potentially going to be an issue with an inflatable product regardless of whether they are high or low quality. To try and prevent this always rinse your inflatable off after being used in the sea and then ensure it has been dried thoroughly. Don’t pack it away too tightly causing stress points on the fabric and store away from direct sunlight.

Valves

Faulty valves allow air to leak out after inflation which is potentially hazardous during usage.  Many stock manufactured paddleboard valves are prone to leaking. With the Leafield Marine D7 or D7 Drop Stitch valve, you can ensure a high-quality, leak-proof valve that not only means you don’t have to worry about air leaking but due to it’s low profile looks great on your paddleboard too.
